The Cryptoporticus

WHERE: in Giovanni XXIII square, on the left side of the Cathedral.
HISTORY: The Roman monument surrounded the sacred area of the ancient city forum. The complex, subject of a significant work of restoration, is located below the roadway and is accessed via a staircase next to the Cathedral. The cryptoporticus, unique, consists of a gallery with two aisles on three sides, separated by arches. Of striking beauty, the monument is often frame of theatrical performances or themed evenings.
